[Exhibition 003] ‘MULTIINDISCIPLINAR’ by Tana Lakale

MULTIINDISCIPLINAR

14.02.-09.03.2025

The exhibition ‘MULTIINDISCIPLINAR’ by Tana Lakale is a constantly evolving space—a crossroads where analog and digital, traditional and experimental coexist without boundaries. The title itself plays with words: an invitation to explore the ‘in’ of indiscipline, to immerse oneself in an artistic practice that follows no fixed rules but instead thrives on a diversity of materials, techniques, and approaches.

In her work, indiscipline is not disorder but a form of resistance. Her creative process does not follow a linear path; it moves between planning and improvisation, allowing chance and mistakes to become allies in the construction of new visual narratives. "I don’t believe in mistakes in art," she says. "What we call ‘mistakes’ can simply be part of the process."

Throughout this journey, drawing—her primary language—merges with painting, glass, sculpture, and illuminated screens. Recent works such as ‘She’s Sooooo Stupid’, ‘Disociada Viva’, ‘La Protegida’, and ‘New Jersey’ share space with key pieces from her career, like ‘El Mundo’ and ‘La Mala Sangre’. Though they stem from different creative processes, they all connect through themes of identity, memory, and transformation. Tana Lakale constructs an ecosystem of works that coexist without hierarchy, where pieces intersect, engage in dialogue, and challenge one another.

Weaving memory: The sweater as an expanded artwork

As an extension of this exploration, the exhibition presents a unique textile piece: a limited-edition sweater knitted from recycled scarves from her previous collection. More than just a garment, it is a reconfigured memory, where each thread carries past stories and each stitch becomes an act of transformation.

For Tana Lakale, fashion is a natural extension of her artistic practice. "As a child, I wanted to be a fashion designer," she shares. "Although I pursued a different path, fashion has always been present in my life." This piece testifies to the connection between art and everyday life, between the artwork and the body that inhabits it.

An experience in progress

‘MULTIINDISCIPLINAR’ is not an exhibition of techniques but of tensions. A space where the solid and the ephemeral meet in an unstable balance, always on the verge of transformation. For Tana Lakale, the most important thing is for the audience to immerse themselves in the experience without fixed expectations. "I just want them to enjoy the details and be present," she says.

The exhibition is a tribute to the fusion of languages and the richness that emerges from blending influences. It reflects the practice of an artist who transforms her surroundings and experiences into a unique language—always open, always in progress.
