"Juan José Moreno Cuenca, known as El Vaquilla, became the country's most precocious and famous criminal; an antihero and countercultural icon of the Spanish transition.

He was born with no escape, marked by the violence from which he could never escape. At 17, having already spent 3 and a half years in 7 different prisons, El Vaquilla gave his first interview to Interviú magazine. In it, he recounts his tough childhood, his criminal beginnings, his experiences in correctional facilities, and the abuse suffered at the hands of his family, the church, and the police. OJOS DE BUEY brings back these never-before-seen photographs, taken by Paco Elvira in 1979, along with the full interview by Pedro Costa Musté and Xavier Vinader."
